Parent and Local Community Leader
Candidate for Poway Unified School District Board of Education Trustee Area A
Tim’s Public Comment at the October Board Meeting is His Ballot Statement
It states why he is the best candidate with the most relative experience for the Governing Board Member Trustee position. Public comment is limited to two minutes and the ballot statement, found in the voter pamphlet, is limited to 200 words. It is short and to the point.
Tim is an independent voice and community leader who will represent your best interest, not the same tired personal agendas. Tim is not tied to any current board members and will focus on solving the current issues facing the district:
ACADEMICS: Test scores have declined and learning gaps have widened. State testing data was released last week and for the second straight year, post-Covid, scores have declined. The number of students meeting or exceeding the standard declined 1.0% in English and 1.5% in Math. Two-thirds of the schools in the district declined in English and 2/3 declined in Math. Half of the schools declined in both subjects. Tim will refocus the district on learning in the classroom.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: A $35m budget shortfall is upon us - your hard-earned money. Newly elected board members will decide how to reduce expenses for next year’s budget. Professionally, Tim manages large comparable budgets.
LEADERSHIP: Administrators and principals are leaving at alarming rates. Morale is low. 25% of the principals have turned over for the second straight year. Tim has led teams of people for over 20 years.
TRANSPARENCY: Tim is not tied to PUSD board members and their lack of transparency. The current board, including an outgoing member, just hired a new Superintendent with a fast-track timeline that ignored elections currently in progress. They also used private “representatives” to hire someone that came from a neighboring district that is performing worse than PUSD and also declined in test scores last year.
