In the School

For over seven years, Tim Dougherty has been deeply involved in the district’s schools as an active parent with children in the district. He has served as Chairperson of the School Site Council at his children's elementary school, working closely with teachers and administrators to guide student achievement plans. In addition, Tim has taken on leadership roles within the PTA, serving as both President and currently as Treasurer, where he has helped drive school activities and fundraising efforts.

Tim’s involvement also includes working with the Park Village Foundation to raise resources for school enrichment programs that benefit students. He has been a weekly volunteer at the school library. Through these roles, Tim has developed a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the schools and is committed to continuing his work to ensure the success of every student.

Rancho Penasquitos Town Council Tim Dougherty

Tim is currently an Executive Director on the Rancho Penasquitos Town Council.  He represents District 5 – Park Village.  He's the Parliamentarian and has also served as the Vice President.  

The Rancho de los Peñasquitos Town Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serve, represent, and promote the activities and interests of all Rancho de los Peñasquitos.  RPTC consists of duly elected and appointed representatives from designated districts within Rancho de los Peñasquitos. 


Tim is currently the District 10 Representative on the Rancho Penasquitos Planning Board having been elected by the public.  Serving the Communities of Rancho Penasquitos, Torrey Highlands, and Black Mountain Ranch the RPPB is the City of San Dego recognized group to review and address land use matters as it relates to the master plan.  The Board meets monthly.  Tim has served on the board for over four years and devoted his time to the betterment of the community.


Personal Story

Tim Dougherty has lived in San Diego for over 20 years and has been a parent and volunteer in the Poway Unified School District for seven years. He has two girls in the District.

He is currently a member of the Park Village Elementary School Site Council and has served the past three years as elected Chairperson. In that role, he presided over the Council and worked with teachers and administrators to develop and complete the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), among other duties.

He has been a member of the Park Village Elementary PTA for four years and the President for two years. He has been an executive for the Park Village Foundation and helped raise money for school enrichment programs.

In 2020, Tim was a candidate for the PUSD Area A Trustee seat.

Tim also serves as a member and Executive of the Rancho Penasquitos Town Council and serves as a member of the Rancho Penasquitos Planning Group.

Tim is in the field of supply chain management and industrial engineering as an Executive with a local retailer. He has had a career in engineering & technology and holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering degree. He was an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Engineering and a teacher at a middle school. He was a Division I athlete in college and a youth coach in wrestling as well as coached other youth sports more recently.

Tim believes in dedicating time to the community and has a passion for learning, teaching, coaching athletics, and education.
